Invitation

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

In this advanced course, various aspects of oxidative damage to proteins including mechanisms and consequences of oxidative protein modifications will be presented and discussed in depth with emphasis on using proteins as markers of oxidative stress. It will provide participants a clear overview of the challenges and opportunities that exist in this new and exciting field, as well as concise and practical support of commonly used approaches. Participants will be exposed to many of the challenging aspects of research on free radical induced protein modifications, as well as to the numerous analytical methodologies employed. Both principles and advanced methodologies will be discussed with an emphasis on identification tools for specific protein modifications and type of oxidative stress. The course will include lectures by leaders in the field emphasizing critical methodological aspects of research. Lectures will cover a broad range of areas aimed at providing guidance and insight for participants to maximize their potential of success in free radical and oxidatively modified protein research. Exposing young scholars to the teaching of an array of scientists, clearly in the forefront of the research and clinical practice, is an unforgettable and fruitful experience. During the course, the present state of knowledge and future trends will be presented in depth by lecturers of international standing to researchers at the pre- and post-doctoral level with an adequate scientific background. We are very fortunate that we have managed to recruit the foremost leading experts in this field to participate as lecturers. The scientific program will include a wide range of issues such as basic concepts, methods and techniques used in this area and their biomedical application. The program will feature lectures, oral presentations by participants, posters and round table discussions. Enough time will be reserved for poster visiting and discussion with the participants. All participants will be accommodated together, thus allowing for discussions during leisure periods. The organizing committee members and lecturers will make every effort for the advanced course to be successful, not only for the high level of lectures, but also for the atmosphere of international friendship.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Kemer, Antalya, Turkey.
